Friday 16th August 2019 - Free Practice

Another new circuit for Reece and with four very different test sessions yesterday due to the changeable weather conditions at Nurburgring the Friday free practice was damp and cold as the teenage BRDC rising start stepped up for another weekend of learning. The free practice session was hampered with yellow flags and several recoveries and Reece appeared confident with pace on slicks which seen the first twenty-two cars within a second.

RB “The circuit is great it is just a pity the weather was so changeable - it was so difficult to find the optimum limit as the line was changing every lap. With our tyres having a lot of milage in this session, we can certainly build on this for qualifying which is my focus for this weekend”

Saturday 17th August 2019 - Qualifying & Race 1

Saturday morning qualifying would see the changeable weather continue with a drying circuit and dark rain clouds circling the Nurburgring circuit' Reece was focused on this qualifying session to improve his starting position in this very tight grid. The teenager was off to a great start on his first tyre run with the prefect out lap directly behind the championship leader Andlauer starting his fast lap only to see the red flag, after the restart Reece finished his tyre run in P9 and returned to the pits with the other cars, but it was not to be on the second run as all three FORCH cars were slower.

RB: “It was just a disaster of a session I had the perfect tow behind Julien on my first push lap but the red flag just compromised the initial phase and our second run was just sh** - the run with flags is fine but we need to sort out the fundamental issues”

Saturday 17th August 2019 - Race 1

Race 1 would see Reece start from a disappointing P23 and on the dirty line but the teenager was upbeat about going forward from his starting position and that he certainly despite serious wheel spin on the sta line. The young racer defended well from a compromised start and kept things tidy to move through to P17 at the end...

RB: “Not much to stay about that we are just starting too far back; my start wasn't great as I got really bad wheel spin on the dirty side of the circuit and after that, it was just about staying out of trouble. We still have really bad understeer and it's just impossible when we are so slow exiting corners - even with the poor qualifying we have definitely left rookie points out there today”

Sunday 18th August 2019 - Race 2

Race 2 Sunday morning the weather was again damp and windy with a drizzle of rain as the cars move to pre-race assembly. Reece had a better start and gained a few positions on for the opening lap but again the safety car was to be deployed due to the incident between Van Lagen and Rettenbacher. On the restart, Reece was to gain more places moving up to P14 before his rookie colleagues Besler was to get him on the exit from turn one.

RB: “My start wasn't perfect as the track surprisingly had much more grip on the start than in race 1 but I was happy with the first half of the race; the restart and overtaking were good but our issue remains and it was impossible to keep Berkey and Jannes behind. We need to get this issue sorted and get back to the pace we had in the opening rounds.

The Porsche Talent Pool drivers were back in action for the second and final qualifying round in the E-Sport Carrera Cup and I was happy to qualify in P3 overall which will see the final take place at Nurburgring this month-end.”
