Reece Barr made his car racing debut with ExcelR8 Motorsport at the last round of the 2016 Mini Challenge season, as the young racer steps up to car racing in Britain. The 16 year-old from Donegal now based in Silverstone Village started his race year with ExcelR8 Motorsport as he prepares for full championship competition in 2017.
Reece continues his competitive campaign with four impressive podium visits over the six rounds completed while also picking up a number of rookie podium awards. With two rounds to going his expectations for the year are already secured and now leading the rookie championship - race wins and podiums remain the focus. Our decision to run with the ExcleR8 team has worked out really well and I’m convinced the team effort has certainly helped my championship campaign. Two rounds to go and the championship is certainly living up to it's title Mini Challenge.
John Pratt performance driver coach at Andy Priaulx Sports Management added, “Reece is a real talent; we’ve seen his pace first hand and from what we’ve seen Reece is very serious about his opportunity and has what it takes to be a great racing driver"
